The Swamp Dance Fest, where people of all ages come together to move, create and explore. This summer we will offer a special Gaga Intensive with guest artist, Yaniv Abraham of the renowned Bat Sheva Dance Company who will teach Gaga and create an original work on the students. We will also study with contemporary visiting dance artists from the Sabot du Vent company of Ndjamena Chad, Africa. Internationally renowned artist, Richard Move will be in residence to make a new dance film in collaboration with the students based on Biomimcry. Free Public Performances are offered on three Fridays during the intensive: (July 6, 13, 20, 2012). The culminating performances of the Swamp Dance Fest! featuring work created by guest artists will be held July 26 -29, 2012 at the Constans Theatre.
TAMPA, Fla. (April 19, 2013) – Florida Dance Festival returns for the fourth year in a row to the University of South Florida School of Theatre and Dance, June 17-29.  The festival, presented by Florida’s premier, statewide arts/dance service organization, Florida Dance Association, is the preeminent annual dance workshop event in the southeastern United States.  The two-week program, packed with workshops and performances, attracts hundreds of aspiring dance students (age 11 and up) from the southern United States and Caribbean to train in a noncompetitive environment with nationally renowned dancers and choreographers from around the world.
“The University of South Florida School of Theatre and Dance has been a perfect host for Florida Dance Festival,” says Bill Doolin, director of Florida Dance Association.  “It’s a great atmosphere for students to experiment and learn and a Tampa Bay is the ideal community for us to expose new works from major modern dance companies currently touring the United States.”
Florida Dance Association is responsible for bringing new, avant-garde modern dance productions to Tampa Bay audiences during its multi-night performance series during Florida Dance Festival.  The performance series wraps up on June 29 (7:30 p.m.), with the lively Festival Finale featuring the work of the Florida Dance Festival students and choreography by faculty members.  Tickets to performances range from $7-$22 and can be purchased through , or call Ticketmaster at: 800-982-2787.


The Carreño Dance Festival, a master class summer series, has garnered international attention during its two previous seasons, attracting pre-professional students from across the United States as well as from Canada, Mexico, Brazil, Panama and Europe.
A distinguished faculty has been assembled for the 2013 summer series.   Led by Master Teacher Jose Carreño, the roster includes Yuri Fateev. Director of Mariinsky Ballet,  St. Petersburg, Russia; Loipa Araújo, Co-Director English National Ballet; and Gennadi Saveliev, founder of Youth America Grand Prix.  Other members of the faculty are Rinat Imaev, Company Teacher American Ballet Theatre, Carlos Dos Santos, prominent modern Brazilian artist, Magaly Suarez, Director of Florida Classical Ballet and Robert de Warren, international director/choreographer. The culmination of the Carreño series, the Festival of Stars, will be performed on the evening of Saturday, August 17, 2013 at the Sarasota Opera House, as the students of the series share the stage with international stars of the ballet world.  The performance will feature The Sleeping Beauty Suite, as well as a traditional Master Class presentation, and works by Twyla Tharp and Annabelle Lopez Ochoa. Celebrating 20 Years, the African Caribbean Dance Theatre, Inc. presents the 16th Annual Florida African Dance Festival (FADF) June 6 – 8, 2013 in Tallahassee, Florida at the Tallahassee Community College.
